Perhaps you remember our incredible First Night Austin projects from the past, where hundreds of people from the community have collaborated on exciting art projects that illuminate social issues...Click here to see the evidence!

We are currently working on our 5th Original Commission!

This year our theme is "The Neighborhood Project" and it's all about celebrating the beauty in our neighborhoods and exploring where we can make improvements.  We are excited and so are the hundreds of youth who have already begun working with us! Click here to see the work so far!

This is a year-long initiative that includes:

* 4 schools in the 183/Lamar area engaging in a year-long project, through which they celebrate and beautify their neighborhood in collaboration with their parents and the community.

* A spectacle of puppets, banners, and music for the First Night Grand Procession, all created with recycled materials.

*A community mural constructed of reclaimed wood tiles expressing where we each find beauty in our communities. To be completed by Spring 2010. Click here to learn more and see how you can make your own tile to be a part of the mural!

*30 Schools participating in art projects exploring where they find beauty in their neighborhood, to be a part of a traveling exhibit celebrating Austin's Neighborhoods.

* Roughly 20 community events between November 2009-May 2010. Click here to see what's coming up!

*A series of interactive and fun community forums for parents and youth to develop and implement neighborhood beautification projects in the 183/Lamar area.
