“I felt the program was very valuable and beneficial to my 5th graders. As an educator I really appreciate the support and reinforcement from a talented, knowledgeable outside source.” -5th grade teacher, Holy Family Catholic School
In response to overwhelming demand, we created this 5-day follow up program for 5th-6th grade students who have already received “The Courage to Stand.”
For your 5th and 6th graders who are graduates of The Courage to Stand, we now offer Courage in Action! In this exciting new show, “Special Agents of Courage” take your students on a journey through history to test their skills as Courageous Bystanders. By taking a look back at the struggles of Cesar Chavez and the migrant workers and Carmella Teoli standing up for the millworkers of the Industrial Revolution, students learn group-building and leadership skills and discover how to stand together and spread their message for positive change in the community.
Objective: To deepen a class’s understanding of being “allies” to their community.
Grades: 5-6 (students who have already received “The Courage to Stand” program)
Number of Students: up to 35
Length: 4 consecutive days of one-hour sessions plus one follow up visit
