Special Agents of Courage have a special mission for your students! By examining leaders such as Cesar Chavez, students learn to be courageous leaders and community organizers. On the final day of the program students are inducted as Agents and emerge with clear strategies for affecting positive change in their community.
Objective: To deepen a class’s understanding of being allies and leaders to their community. Grades: 5-6 Number of Students: up to 35 Length: 4 consecutive days of one-hour sessions plus one follow up visit.
Day One
Students lean about courageous leaders throughout history and modern examples of students their own age.
Day
Two
Students enter the world of Cesar Chavez and become a part of his revolution for migrant workers rights.
Day Three
We meet two students in a modern day elementary school and students rehearse solutions to the real life problems they are facing.
Day
Four
Students complete leadership training by creating a plan to address an issue in their own community.
Follow-Up
Session
Actors return to find out how the students service projects have been going.
